Suffolk Spartans

The club has received tremendous support in order to be set up.  The initial funding for equipment was provided by Optua, which is a charity that works with people who are disabled to ensure they fullfill their potential.  We then support Optua by bringing our equipment and coaching along to open days which they run.  These open days give participants the oppertunity to try new and different sports as well as interact with new people. 

This funding was matched by the East Local Strategic Partnerships which aims to bring funding for new projects from local businesses and charities. 

There has been considerable support also given by Babergh District Council in terms of getting this club off the ground and ensuring its smooth running with funding available to keep it going in the future.  We as a club are therefore keen to support the 'BeActive' program which is run by the council.  Babergh now has a member of the leisure department as a Powerlifting co-ordinator and the Suffolk Spartans has become the most successful club within the Babergh area.
