Today has seen Nathaniel compete in the IPC Powerlifting World Cup Championships in Hungary and stroll his way through to a Gold medal with ease.
Nathaniel weighed in at just 66.1kg and his opening lift of 162kg was enough to take the gold medal. He finished on 167kg, missing his final lift of 170kg but still had a more than comfortable lead of 17kg over silver medalist Cattini of Italy.
Training has been going well and everyone at Spartans is really pleased that this was a 5kg increase on Nathaniel’s previous best set at the beginning of this year and at an International competition with IPC referees in place.
Also on the trip was BWL program athlete Ollie Brown who secured a bronze medal with a lift of 159kg in the u65kg weight class and ensured both came away with medals and deservedly so.
Training now turns to the British Championships in July as qualification for the World Championships this autumn intensifies.
