The club started with Chris, Nathaniel, and Zoe with the development of the Suffolk Disability Sports Academy.
Following an Optua Showcase day in Bury St Edmunds Polly joined the club along with Oliver and Katherine. People attending the Sports Centre are able to come and try the sport in between the badminton sessions that run at the same time as this is included within the membership price and new members are always welcome.
From the beginning of 2008 the membership of this club has increased dramatically and as a club we seem to attract new members from every event we attend as a result the club is growing all the time.
2010 saw an increase in club numbers once again and we now have 8-10 people come along each week and once you've seen the size of the facilities you'll realise that catering to everyone is quite an achievement.
We are working with the sports centre and the school to look at ways in which we can increase the club to deal with the capacity we already have and expect to have in the future. All plans are subject to funding as well as agreements and so nothing can move very quickly.
Coaching is provided by Louise Pennell and Daniel Collins. All training programs try to work with individuals and offer a tailored program where possible. We are also looking to develop coaching oppertunities within the club and have on assistant coach at the moment with more looking to develop into this role in the near future.
